WHAT: Join the proud citizens of High Falls, the historic Ulster County hamlet, for the 2011 High Falls Tree Lighting Ceremony. This annual holiday event celebrates the joys of small-town living in the Mid-Hudson Valley and officially ushers in the holiday season. Bring the kids to share memories that will last a lifetime! All are invited, free of charge!
WHERE: The Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place at the corner of Rt 213 and Second Street in High Falls, Ulster County, 12440. Gather at the tall evergreen tree in the center of town, adjacent to the Depuy Canal House
WHO: This annual holiday season kick-off celebration will be hosted by Greg Gattine, veteran DJ on WDST Radio Woodstock's Morning Show. Christmas carols will be performed by members of 5th & 6th grade chorus of the Rondout Valley Middle School. Free cider and soup will be served, provided by Buffy & Brian Gribbon of the The High Falls Café and John Novi and the Depuy Canal House. The highlight of the event is the arrival of Santa Claus on a fire engine, courtesy of The High Falls Volunteer Fire Department. After the festivities, all are invited to the Community Church of High Falls for hot chocolate & cookies. The Church is at the corner of Mohonk Road & Firehouse Rd.
DO A GOOD DEED: Please be sure to bring an unwrapped toy to donate to the Toys for Tots program to help less fortunate children this season
HIGH FALLS BASKET GIVEAWAY: To celebrate the December 3 High Falls Tree Lighting Ceremony, High Falls merchants have assembled 5 special holiday gift baskets highlighting the best this town has to offer. Greg Gattine will give away these baskets on WDST on Friday, December 2. The baskets, each valued at $200, offer services and gifts from the merchants of High Falls. Participating merchants include: Hopheads Craft Beer Market & Tasting Bar; D&H Canal Museum; The Last Bite; The Egg’s Nest; Liza Jane Norman Design; Linger Apothecary & Lounge; Barking Dog Antiques; High Falls Mercantile; Arbor Bed & Breakfast; Blue Stone Cottage Bed and Breakfast; Green Cottage; Deeper Well Massage Therapy; Nectar; Spruce Design + Decor; Dead Relatives; A Little Guest House B & B; Northern Spy Café, and High Falls Café. The winners will be awarded the gift baskets in person at the ceremony.
